Having a child is one of the most gratifying and joyful events in any woman's life. However, pregnancy, childbearing and breast-feeding may contribute to sagging breasts, loose abdominal skin, and excess abdominal fat in some women. The Mommy Makeover is a combination of procedures designed to help a woman regain her pre-pregnancy body. Many women feel happier and more confident after the Mommy Makeover.
During pregnancy, mothers' breasts swell with milk production. After breast-feeding, these breasts lose volume, which creates excess skin; a breast lift procedure can address this issue. The surgeon removes the excess skin, reduces the size of the stretched areola, and lifts and repositions the breasts. Many women combine their breast lift with a breast augmentation procedure.
Some women might experience a loss of abdominal skin elasticity, and some looseness in their abdominal muscles. Abdominoplasty, or tummy tuck, can address this issue. Excess skin cannot be tightened through exercise or liposuction. Resolving this physical change requires surgical intervention. Tummy tuck is the only procedure that can remove this excess skin, eliminate stretch marks, and tighten your abdominal muscles. After surgery, any lifting is prohibited for four to six weeks.
For excess fat removal, liposuction may be sufficient. Liposuction can neither remove excess skin nor tighten abdominal muscles.
Dr. Nezami recommends the Mommy Makeover only to those mothers who have completed all childbearing and breastfeeding.
