Face: Botox® Cosmetic

Botox® Cosmetic injection is becoming one of the most popular cosmetic procedure in Jacksonville and Ponte Vedra area.

Jacksonville Botox injectionsBotox® Cosmetic injection for facial aesthetic improves the appearance of worry lines, frown lines, crow's feet, laugh lines , forehead lines and pebble chin. These wrinkles occur as the muscles under the skin contract when we laugh, smile or frown. Botox® injections temporarily weaken the overactive facial muscles in the area injected and relax the muscle and skin thereby removes the wrinkle and smoothes the pebbled chin. Botox® injection can raise a drooping brow and give a better shape to the eyebrows and even reverse a downward corner of the mouth. The FDA ,Food & Drug Administration approved the use of Botox injection for cosmetic purposes in 2002. In our Jacksonville Cosmetic Surgery Center Dr. Nezami was using Botox injection for our Jacksonville Cosmetic Surgery Center patients as off label usage before 2002 and has extensive experience and knowledge to obtain the most natural results.

Botox® Cosmetic ( onabotulinumtoxinA ) is a sterile purified botulinum toxin type A produced from fermentation of Hall strain Clostridium botulinum type A bacteria. Botox® will block the transmission of nerve impulses to the injected muscles. Botox® can also be used to shape the eyebrows, lift the eyebrows; in case of asymmetry of brow correct the asymmetry. We had patients in our Jacksonville Cosmetic Surgery center that wanted Botox® injection to elevate corners of their mouth, or softening of their chin. Botox® can also be used to correct vertical neckbands.

In addition to the facial aesthetic, Botox® can also be used to diminish excessive sweating. We see a good number of patients at our Jacksonville Cosmetic Surgery Center requesting Botox to be injected under their armpits, and some on their hand or feet. Botox can also be used as a treatment for headaches.

Botox® injection has a minimal discomfort. In our Jacksonville Cosmetic Surgery Center, Dr. Nezami uses local anesthetic cream only at patient request; otherwise the pain is truly minimal. Botox® injections take effect in five to seven days, and lasts between three to 4 months. Repeated injections may ultimately weaken and atrophy the muscles injected leading to longer lasting results or lesser units needed to obtain the same result. There are no significant side effects and patient can go back to work immediately.

Dr. Nezami himself does the Botox injection for all our Jacksonville Cosmetic Surgery Center patients. Before injecting Botox Dr. Nezami will carefully examine the facial musculature of the patient, the strength and movement of the muscles and their effect on the facial wrinkles on their forehead, glabella and crow's feet. Dr. Nezami carefully draws the crease lines and all the areas where the muscles contract and need to be injected. Each patient has a chart that is meticulously documented on the amount of units used for each area and the exact location of the injection. This chart is an essential guide for future injections to obtain consistent result. Because of Dr. Nezami extensive experience and technique and spending appropriate time before proceeding with the Botox injection to study the patient's anatomy, and applying pressure at the point of injection, our Jacksonville Cosmetic Surgery Center patients experience excellent and natural results with no or very minimal bruising. Once a patient experienced the result of their Botox injection with Dr. Nezami they will seldom be happy to have their Botox injection done any where else. This is why, according to representative of Allergan; producer of Botox®, Dr. Nezami has one of the highest patient retention rate in the State of Florida. The credit goes entirely to Dr. Nezami for his well-known quest for perfection.

Cost of Botox® Cosmetic

Cost of Botox injection can become quite confusing for patients. Some places quote their charges by area, some by units. In some practices nurse practitioners, physician assistants or medical doctors, administer the Botox injection. Patient can find very few plastic and cosmetic surgery practices that the plastic surgeon himself administer the Botox injection. In our Jacksonville Cosmetic Surgery Center, Dr. Nezami a board certified plastic surgeon himself administers the Botox injection. Although the injection by itself is a simple procedure but to identify exactly which area and what muscle to injection and how many units requires expertise , experience and an eye for perfection. The outcome will reflect the differences between simply injecting the Botox and injecting with an expert eye and experience.

Another factor contributing to pricing of Botox is the degree that the botulinum bacterium is diluted and how many units are injected in each area. The Botox is shipped refrigerated to the physician's office in form of powder. The vial of Botox contain 100 units, the powder is dissolved in saline solution. In our Jacksonville Cosmetic Surgery Center practice, we dissolve 1 vial of Botox in 1 ml. of saline. This concentrated solution makes 100 units of Botox. If more saline is added to the vial of powder Botox for reconstitution, the Botox is more diluted and the effect on the muscle is less for the same amount of ml. injected. If the plastic surgeon injects more cc than is needed, the effect could be spread out to the adjacent muscles that should have not been affected. If you are comparing prices for Botox injection, you need to take in consideration the dilution of Botox, the total number of units injected, the experience and expertise of the person doing the injection. The result and the effect of the same dilution and same total number of units injected will vary according to the experience and the expertise of the injector. We advise our patients in Jacksonville and Ponte Vedra to be aware of extremely low price advertised and make sure that the low price is not the result of highly diluted Botox or lesser units injected.

In our Jacksonville Cosmetic Surgery Center, for the three areas, frown lines, crow's feet, and forehead; we usually use 33 to 34 units of concentrated Botox and the charge is $475.00. A. No, you should not. The Botox injection should raise the eyebrows and separate them by relaxing the muscles that pull the eyebrow together and causes glabellar line and the line on the top of your nose. If your eyebrows came down this was due to the injections being too low on the forehead or the entire forehead muscle was weakened and could not pull the eyebrow up.
