Face: Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)
Drooping eyelids and puffy bags under lower eyelids make you look older and tired. This problem can be corrected by eyelid surgery by removing fat and excess skin from the upper and lower eyelids.
Some of our patients in Jacksonville and Jacksonville Beach are under the impression that eyelids surgery will also correct their wrinkles, crow's feet or dark circles under their eyes. Eyelids surgery will improve but not correct these problems. There are other treatments for them.
At our Jacksonville Cosmetic Surgery Center we have effective products to treat dark circles under the eyes, and products for superficial wrinkles. Non-evasive treatment such as microdermabraison can also reduce wrinkles. For crow's feet Botox injection will be effective.
Our charges includes Dr. Nezami's surgery charge, the charge for an MD anesthesiologist, operating room charges, and follow up. Our consultation charge is 80.00 which will be applied toward your surgery if you decide to proceed with the surgery.
Preparing for your Eyelid Surgery
We advise our patients in Jacksonville and Jacksonville Beach to avoid taking certain medications such as aspirin and Ibuprofen and vitamin E. We advise them to stop smoking at least three weeks before the surgery, if they are smokers. Smoking interferes with blood flow to the skin and prevents the rapid healing of the incision. On your pre-operation consultation you will be given specific and detailed instruction.
The incision for Eyelid Surgery
The incision for eyelids surgery is in the creases of your upper lids, and below your lashes in the lower lids. The scarring is minimal and will fade over time.
How painful is to have Eyelid Surgery
In general the pain after the eyelid surgery is minimal.
We advise our patients in Jacksonville and Jacksonville Beach, to keep their head elevated for several days and use cold compresses to reduce the bruising and swelling. Your eyes will be sensitive to sunlight, so remember to wear your sunglasses.
Recovery period after Eyelid Surgery
The recovery after eyelid surgery is pretty rapid. You will be able to read after two to three days, and go to work in a week or 10 days. The bruising can easily be covered with make-up.
Candidates for Eyelid Surgery
There is no age limit to have eyelid surgery. If you have droopy eyelids and puffy bags under your lower eyelids and would like to correct these problems and keep your youthful look eyelid surgery might be right for you. The best candidates for eyelid surgery are patients in good health. Most of our patients in Jacksonville and Jacksonville Beach are in their forties and older. The patients that have dry eye, insufficient tears, detached retina, and glaucoma must have clearances from their ophthalmologist before considering eyelid surgery.
