Breast Lift (Mastopexy) and Augmentation

Over the years, all women will see some sagging of their breasts due to gravity, pregnancy, or weight loss. Their skin will stretch and they will loose volume in their breasts.

Jacksonville breast lift Breast lift or mastopexy is a plastic surgery procedure to reshape the breasts, remove excess skin and bring the nipples to their original or normal location. Breast augmentation can be done in conjunction with breast lift. Breast implants can be inserted either under the breast tissue or under the muscles.

During your first consultation at our Jacksonville Cosmetic Surgery Center, Dr. Nezami will explain in detail the entire surgery, recovery time, complications, and the exact cost of the surgery.

Preparing for your Breast Lift Surgery

We advise our patients in Jacksonville and Jacksonville Beach to avoid taking certain medications such as aspirin and Ibuprofen and vitamin E. If they are smokers, we advise them to stop smoking at least three weeks before the surgery, as smoking interferes with blood flow to the skin, prevents rapid healing, and causes complications. During your pre-operation consultation you will be given specific and detailed instructions for preparation for your breast lift surgery.

Incision for Breast Lift Surgery

Breast lift consists of removing excess skin around the areola and the bottom of the breast and elevating the nipple and areola. Depending on the degree of the lift needed, the scar could be just around the areola or around the areola and from the areola down to the crease line under the breast. If needed the size of the areola can be reduced. Keep in mind that a breast lift will leave permanent scars. Each person scars differently; a woman with only slightly sagging breasts will have smaller scars.

Recovery after Breast Lift Surgery with Augmentation

Recovery after Breast Lift Surgery with augmentation

We advise our patients in Jacksonville and Jacksonville Beach to have someone drive them home after surgery and help them for the first two days.

Patients who have breast augmentation at the same time as a breast lift will have a recovery that takes a little more time and is a little more painful.

To help your healing process avoid stretching the muscles around the breast implants

For three weeks you should avoid raising your elbows higher than your armpit and avoid pulling or pushing with your arms. The pink scar will remain several weeks; they will start to fade gradually after several months.

You can start to work after the first week as long as your work does not involve lifting of heavy objects. The stitches will be taken out within five days. After breast surgery because of swelling and tightness of soft tissue, your breasts may seem unnatural, this is only temporary, gradually your breasts will soften and they will have a natural feel. You can start exercising after three weeks. Keep in mind that recovery period varies from patient to patient.
