Permanent Makeup Safety Guidance, Jacksonville Cosmetic Surgery Blog

Written by Deanna Denatale,  Certified permanent makeup technician and licensed aesthetician

We advise our patients in Jacksonville, Jacksonville Beach and Ponte Vedra to place their safety as their top criteria in choosing the right technician to perform their permanent makeup.  Florida Law requires certified permanent makeup technicians not cosmetology, skin care, nail technicians be supervised by a licensed Medical doctor.

You can check your permanent makeup technician’s credentials by calling the Jacksonville License and Business Regulation of occupational licensing at (904) 630-1916 or Jacksonville Health Department at (904) 253-1280 (my preference).

Meeting with and interaction between patient and technician are of great importance. Your permanent makeup technician should have an assortment of colors to blend with your skin type. You should both agree on colors used together. Color correction from previous work requires specialized skills. Your permanent makeup technician should have ample experience and an adequate assortment of colors in her portfolio.  Your initial visit will typically last 2 to 3 hours. After your initial visit, at our Jacksonville Cosmetic Surgery Center, we advise a follow up visit within 4 to 6 weeks to enhance color and shape of the permanent makeup on eyebrows, eyelids and eight weeks for lips. The completion of the all your permanent makeup work will take less than 12 weeks. Some procedures use more advanced techniques (Para-medical) and require a permanent makeup technician with advanced training.
